Tax-debt relief options

Different problems.
Different paths forward.

A qualified tax professional may help with the services below, depending on their scope and your circumstances. The IRS makes the eligibility and approval decisions for federal tax matters. State tax rules can differ.

Pay over time

IRS payment plans

An installment agreement may let an eligible taxpayer pay a balance over time. It does not erase the debt. Interest and applicable penalties generally continue, and setup fees may apply.

Individual financial review

Offer in Compromise

An Offer in Compromise may settle a balance for less than the amount owed if IRS requirements are met. Income, expenses and asset equity matter. An offer is not automatic, and application costs may apply.

Financial hardship

Currently Not Collectible

If paying would prevent basic living expenses, the IRS may temporarily delay most collection activity. The debt remains, interest and penalties can grow, and the IRS may review your finances again.

Review the penalties

Penalty abatement

Some taxpayers may qualify for penalty relief through first-time abatement, reasonable cause or another applicable exception. Removing a penalty does not automatically remove the underlying tax.

Understand the notice

Tax liens, levies & garnishments

A federal tax lien is a legal claim against property; a levy actually takes property. A professional can review collection notices and possible responses. Do not assume a call or a website request stops collection.

Unfiled returns & back taxes

Missing returns can limit resolution options. A suitable professional may help identify filing gaps and the work required to become compliant. Tax preparation and representation may require separate scopes.

Need financing
to help pay taxes?

Levine Capital has financing options that may help eligible business borrowers and real-estate investors fund permitted tax payments. As an AI tech-enabled lender focused on VIP clients, we combine technology-supported coordination with human underwriting.

If you own qualifying investment real estate, we can review whether an available financing or cash-out option fits your circumstances. Tax payments must be a permitted use of proceeds under the selected loan program. This is not an offer of an unsecured personal tax loan.

Discuss financing options

The introductory meeting is free. Financing is a separate request—not a loan approval, a commitment to lend or a tax-resolution engagement.

Know the costs and conditions

Availability, loan amount, rates, fees and terms depend on loan purpose, credit, collateral, valuation, title, existing liens, documentation and underwriting. Approval and funding are not guaranteed.

A loan is not tax-debt forgiveness.Financing creates a separate repayment obligation. Borrowing is not debt forgiveness and does not by itself stop collection or determine eligibility for tax relief. Compare borrowing costs with IRS payment options and discuss tax consequences with a qualified professional.

Tax liens may affect title and financing eligibility. If a loan is secured by property, failure to repay can put that property at risk. Do not send tax returns, Social Security numbers or confidential records through this page or an introductory booking.

Why start with Levine Capital?

Help finding the next step.
Without the pressure.

We work with a tax-help provider and can discuss an introduction. Our role is to help you ask informed questions and understand what happens next—not to decide which IRS program you qualify for.

Before agreeing to professional services, confirm the provider’s name, credentials, service scope and written fees. The professional provider handles any engagement, required authorizations and representation.

Know what you are agreeing to

  • Who will actually handle the case and communicate with the tax authority?
  • What does the investigation cost, and what additional work might be charged separately?
  • What are the cancellation, refund and communication terms?
  • How will private documents be collected and protected?
Real-estate owners: equity matters.Being short on cash is not the same as being eligible to settle tax debt. Property equity may affect IRS review. Tax-lien discharge or subordination is a separate process—not a financing or approval guarantee.
How to get started

Start small. Make an informed decision.

01 / INTRODUCTION

Meet with Levine Capital

Book the free introductory meeting. Tell us you are looking for a tax-help introduction and share only a broad issue category. This is not a loan application or a tax eligibility assessment.

02 / SERVICE FIT

Discuss professional support

If an introduction is appropriate, confirm the provider and decide whether you want to proceed. Any disclosure of your information should be explained and authorized before it occurs.

03 / YOUR DECISION

Review the written engagement

A professional may investigate records after obtaining the required authorization, explain options and quote fees. You choose whether to engage them. The IRS or state authority decides the outcome.

Questions before you reach out

IRS tax-debt help, explained.

Can tax debt really be reduced?

Sometimes. An IRS-approved Offer in Compromise may settle a debt for less than the full balance, but it requires an individualized eligibility review. Many taxpayers use payment plans or other options instead. No private company can promise a specific reduction.

Is there a September 30 IRS Fresh Start deadline?

The official IRS sources reviewed for this page do not establish a blanket September 30 deadline for tax-debt forgiveness. “Fresh Start” is not a promise that everyone qualifies for relief. A deadline on your own notice or a specific official program still matters; verify it directly with the IRS or a qualified professional.

Is the introductory meeting really free?

Yes. The introductory meeting with Levine Capital is free. It is not a professional tax-resolution engagement. A separate provider may charge for investigation, tax preparation or representation; obtain their written scope and fees before committing.

Does Levine Capital negotiate with the IRS?

No. Levine Capital’s role here is general education and introduction coordination. Independent qualified professionals handle tax advice and any authorized representation. We are not affiliated with or endorsed by the IRS.

What information should I share first?

Share only the broad reason you are seeking help, such as back taxes, a payment-plan question or a collection notice. Do not send Social Security numbers, tax returns, account numbers, login details or confidential documents through this page or an introductory booking.

What if I cannot afford professional help?

You can review the IRS’s free tax-debt information directly. Low Income Taxpayer Clinics may offer free or low-cost help with qualifying disputes, including collection issues, subject to income and other clinic requirements. Availability and acceptance are not guaranteed.

Does asking for help stop an IRS levy or wage garnishment?

No. An introduction request does not suspend collection or extend an appeal deadline. If you have a time-sensitive notice, contact the IRS using the verified number on it or seek qualified professional assistance promptly. Do not wait for an introductory appointment to protect a deadline.
