Filing a Lawsuit Against Psychiatry of the Palm Beaches for Patient Abandonment

Filing a Lawsuit Against Psychiatry of the Palm Beaches for Patient Abandonment

When you start asking the right questions, the system gets very uncomfortable. I recently learned exactly how uncomfortable they get when my own prescribing provider, Kevin Myirski PA-C at Psychiatry of the Palm Beaches (561-402-3971), suddenly dropped me as a patient. Why? Because I dared to ask questions about the Baker Act and mentioned that doctors involved in this corrupt system would be subpoenaed.

The Reality of Patient Abandonment

Let’s be clear about what happened here: this is patient abandonment. Kevin was actively prescribing my psychiatric medication. In the state of Florida, and under basic medical ethics, you cannot legally abandon a patient who is on active prescriptions without providing reasonable notice, a transition plan, or a referral to another provider. To drop a patient mid-treatment, especially one on psychiatric medications, is dangerous. It is potentially illegal, and it constitutes clear patient abandonment.

I still have the medication he prescribed me. I have the physical evidence that I was an active patient under his care. And I have the proof that I was abandoned mid-treatment simply because I started shining a light on practices they would rather keep hidden.

Retaliation for Asking Questions

This was not a clinical decision; it was retaliation. I was dropped specifically because I asked questions about the Baker Act system. As a patient, I have the absolute right to ask questions about my own care and the systems that affect me. But when I brought up the fact that doctors and facilities involved in Baker Act abuse would be facing subpoenas, the reaction was immediate. They don’t want patients who ask questions. They want compliance.

During our last appointment, Kevin’s stance became very clear. He defended the Baker Act facilities, telling me “they’re trying to help people” and noting that “they restrain them.” When I asked direct, pointed questions about the reality of what goes on inside these facilities, he was evasive. His defense of a system that chemically restrains and traumatizes people suggests exactly where his loyalties lie. He is part of the system.

Going After the Entire Network

This is why I am filing lawsuits against everyone involved. I am going after the facilities, the doctors, and the entire corrupt network that profits from the Baker Act. This is not just about one provider at Psychiatry of the Palm Beaches. It is about a massive, interconnected system of exploitation.

This connects directly to the broader campaign against Baker Act abuse. From New Horizons to Port St. Lucie Behavioral Health (managed by Oglethorpe Inc.), and now to practices like Psychiatry of the Palm Beaches, they are all part of the same machine. Allegedly, they protect each other, they cover for each other, and they silence anyone who threatens their profit model. But I will not be silenced.

Join the Fight

They thought that by dropping me, they could intimidate me into backing down. They were wrong. This only proves that we are hitting a nerve. The system is scared of accountability.

If you have experienced similar patient abandonment, if you have faced retaliation for asking questions about your care, or if you have been victimized by the Baker Act system, you are not alone. It is time to hold them all accountable. Join the class action sign-up today and stand with us against this abuse.
